The studio is starting to shape up in a major way. We are just about moved in and now just fine-tuning it to get it ready for movement. Very exciting indeed.
In the meantime, the focus has been on design. I have been gathering visuals, much like raking in leaves as they fall, til there is a nice cushion of inspiration. Imagery and concepts from trips to LACMA (go. right. now.), LA Art Show, and the green California winter hills are dancing in my head + my sketchbook is filling with ideas- new table ware, new kitchen ware, and art objects since it has been oh-so-long.
GOOD STUFF TO SEE:
For your inspiration + perusal:
A-Roma, by Common Studio: The elegantly executed natural environmental project about the flora + fauna in Rome. The excavated and researched, distilling the essence of the place down to a scent.
If you haven't gone, you must see:
Pierre Huyghe at LACMA: A "living" retrospective of this artists work that uses installation, video, live environments, and much more to create a rhythmic experience of the art. Incredible. Take your time!
Samurai at LACMA: Ancient armor from the time of the Samurai! The detail that went into these pieces is awe inspiring.
On my nightstand:
Have the best week ever!
xoxo
